Using Design Thinking techniques, I started with a central question - “How might I design a tool that is safer and produces better results than traditional blade-based stenciling and carving tools?”
After interviews with parents, as well as fine dining chefs, to access “pain points,” and benchmarking other products (let’s face it, working with blades in the kitchen can be scary and sometime dangerous), the concept of a tube-based carving tool started to take shape.
Next prototypes were developed and tested. As we learned we iterated and began to realize we had something!
Years of development, and with a US Patent (US 11,045,032 B1) established, a new and novel tool emerged.
The resulting tool, The Carving Wand, is easy to use, allows for fast 360° stenciling & carving, and, doesn’t have any blades.
The Carving Wand presents a highly desirable solution to the original design question around safe and positive results, I’ve come to realize it has other applications as well.
The Carving Wand also works for home kitchen, fine dining, bars, and hospitality food preparation.
Our tool has been in use by select private dinner club chefs for menu planning/meal preparation, as well as, by family kitchens for everyday use.
We are excited to bring this wonderful product to market in the very near future!
